What are facial fillers?

There are several available dermal fillers on the market, and some are composed of naturally occurring substances, such as hyaluronic acid, and others are made with synthetic gels, such as calcium hydroxylapatite.

What fillers do I have to choose from?

At Potomac Medical Aesthetics, we offer a variety of fillers from Juvéderm and Restylane families that work to solve specific skin concerns and vary in their application sites on the face.

For Juvéderm, we have Voluma XC, Volbella, and Vollure, and for Restylane, we offer Silk, Lyft, Refyne, and Defyne.

How long do the effects of facial fillers last?

The lasting effects of fillers range anywhere from six months to two years, depending on which type of filler we use and where it is applied in the face.

What’s the experience of getting filler like?

Most facial filler treatments can be completed in as little as twenty minutes to an hour, depending on your unique goals and the current condition of your skin.

There is no anesthetic needed for this procedure, and, given the nature of fillers, you will be able to see immediate results with each syringe.

Once your filler treatment is complete, you’ll experience little to no downtime and can return to your normal daily schedule, although we may advise you to steer clear of strenuous exercise and sun or heat exposure for a short period of time. (Post-treatment recommendations are made on a case-by-case basis.)

Would I be a good candidate for facial fillers?

Ideal candidates for dermal fillers are patients with lines and lines who are looking for solutions alternative to surgery that will smooth and rejuvenate the face.

Fillers are also an excellent option for patients who have a smaller problem area that can be specifically targeted and does not constitute the need for facial surgery.
